Getting voiced
Probably the second most asked question in channel is.."how do I get a voice"? Well what follows is a brief explanation of your route to a +!
The absolute must for being voiced is that you have a working server. You won't get voiced for using the DCC or Fserve in Mirc. You WILL get voiced if you use Omenserve to share your files. Although other serving scripts are allowed the bots will only auto-voice Omenserve!
All servers MUST meet the following conditions..
- Be able to respond to a @
command in the channel window. Needed for lists and file requests etc. - Send out a channel ad at least once an hour. (We recommend once every 10-15 minutes
We understand that as a beginner or newbie to the channel that you may not have many files to share yet. Thats' not a problem. We ALL started out that way!! As long as you serve what you DO have back to the channel you will get a voice and access to 1000's more files!
If you are unsure about how to set up your server, there is a help page on this web-site or you can type @lilj into the channel window to receive a her list into your download directory on your pc.
You will find a whole lot of extremely useful helpfiles there to download and use and I can't recommend Lilj's expertise high enough.
Follow the instructions in the help files and once you are happy that you've followed the instructions properly...join the channel!
Once your server starts to send channel ads (usually within 30 seconds or so) it will be noticed by the Op's voicing scripts and you will be voiced automatically. One of the first things your server will do is send out your filelist to the other servers (including the Ops!). You should now see a + sign by your nick. You are voiced!
The two scripts you need, Omenserve and Autoget, can both be downloaded from HERE.

Be aware! The Ops will check your server is running properly from time to time, as will the voice scripts. If you turn your server on to get voiced then turn it off again...you will lose your voice. Automatically.
You are all welcome in the channel and we would love to see the list of voiced names get longer and longer, but, we will not tolerate cheaters and people who mess us and the channel about.
Sorry to sound stern but we have had people try to con us before...we don't like it!
