Please note:
The old website had quite a lot of pictures and instructions on it for various setups. This isn't really practical anymore as software versions have moved on since then and a lot of the information is somewhat out of date now. Instead, I've put in links to the help pages you will need to check your setups are correct.

More info:

Don't bother asking the Ops for help if you haven't tried to help yourself first. These pages are quite comprehensive and will solve 99% of your problems in channel.

Setups

Omenserve
Omenserve is the main way to share your files in channel. Omenserve can be downloaded from HERE where you will also find comprehensive setup guides written by LilJ on how to set up for use in Mirc.

NOTE: IF YOU PLAN TO USE AUTOGET ONLY DOWNLOAD AND USE OMENSERVE v2.52, v2.60 & ABOVE WILL NOT WORK WITH AUTOGET!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT!!

Routers
If I had a penny for every router problem we have had in channel I'd own the internet! Ok, slight exaggeration but you get the point!
Most routers will work at switch-on but some have internal firewalls etc that can play havoc when you're trying to serve. First thing to do...Read the documentation that came with the router!
If you use a router then...
You need to know your actual ip address. To find this open a command prompt window (start..programs...accessories..command prompt). In the pop-up window on your screen type ipconfig and press enter.Write down the ip address of your pc, it will be of the form 192.168.0.104 or something similar.
Type exit to close the window or click the little x in the top rh corner.

Now go HERE for info on how to set your router up. You will need the model number of the router you are using.
Choose your router and follow the instuctions for port forwarding on Mirc and on Ident.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: Portforward tells you to set up the WRONG ports!! It will tell you to set up Mirc to 10051-10070 the router to 1024-5000...trust me, this ain't gonna work!!

You will now need to allow your router to open ports for dcc and chat as per the instructions on the router setup pages.
Most routers will allow you to set a range of ports for forwarding (eg. ports 1024-1068) however, some routers only allow you to forward one at a time. If this is the case, then you need to remember the ports you open for later. A pen and paper will be useful here!
If you can enter a range of ports then you need to set up a minimum of 10 ports to run smoothly, the more the merrier really but don't go nuts..you won't need more than 15 or 20, ever!
Another port you will need open is port 113 which is the Ident port.

I bow to Lilj's greater knowledge here and include this direct quote from a mail I received from her:

"my input on the routers DCC ports:
ports 1024-1050 are the most common ports used by many other programs. With people setting up only 10 ports, they can have problems with ports being tied up by other programs and then they can't serve. Another problem with ports 1024-5000 that they are the most common ports used by hackers. I think that is what portforward was thinking when they started to change the recommended ports to 10051-10070. Too bad they didn't finish the job. It is for the above two reasons that I don't suggest people use ports 1024-5000; but have them set up 10051-10070 or 10051-10060 if only 10 ports are available.)
Setting up port 6667. This is a port that is already open in almost every router. How many people don't set up their routers but can chat on mirc? Everyone. :) So opening the port in the router is really a waste of a slot.
Most routers will not accept spaces in the application name and will not accept duplicate names. They will need to name them mircdcc1, mircdcc2 etc.
Also note that you need to set the DCC ports for TCP
Veryify that you have the following ports set up:
mircident1 113-113 for TCP
mircident2 113-113 for UDP (OR mircident 113 for both if available on your router)
mircdcc 10051-10070 for TCP (or mirc1 10051-10051 TCP, mirc2 10052-10052 TCP etc.)"

Now enter a range of ports as detailed above..remember the range as you'll need it later in the Mirc setup.
If you have to enter the ports one at a time then do so for as many as you like or are allowed by the router..

You are now finished with your router

Mirc
The setup for Mirc itself is usually a case of install the program, downloaded from HERE, and follow the basic installation and setup guide on the site.
However, you MUST make sure that the port range you set up in your router matches the port range in Mirc which is accessed from the Options...Connect...Advanced menu in Mirc.
There are minor changes that can be made but they are mostly cosmetic for now.

Autoget
Available from the same site as Omenserve along with all the help and advice you need to make it work.
Because I like you so much click this to go there!
REMEMBER...if you want to use Autoget then must ONLY be using Omenserve v2.52!!!

Pardon? I missed that...!
